We were referred to Kickstart through a number of sources on the Gold Coast and had the pleasure of seeing them perform at the Fundraising Institute Gala Dinner in February. There is no doubt they are a quality group with a repertoire to meet most tastes. For us it was important to the success of our Masquerade Gala to allow the band to do its thing without us looking over their shoulders. They did not let us down. Often these events get a little weary after the official bits are over. Not on this occasion – we had to ask people to leave in the end and are sure that had we left the band to its devices it would have been a very long night indeed. It was great to work with musicians who not only clearly enjoyed what they do but who also understand the not for profit sector and what we are about.  We were fortunate enough to come across the legendary Kickstart band for the first time at the Stockman’s Bar at the Brisbane EKKA last year. We absolutely loved what we heard so decided that they would be the perfect band to play at our wedding in Port Douglas. We locked in our August wedding date, and from there Chris has been absolutely fabulous at liaising with us in the lead up to the night and bouncing off song suggestions and idea’s to make our night extra special. They dealt directly with our reception venue to organise set up which worked out perfectly on the night. 

They started off the evening with some lovely background music during our reception dinner.
We had provided them with three of our own special dancing songs that they learnt especially on our behalf and played so well. This personal touch made it so memorable, as is something you can only get through such a talented live band. As well as this, they played song requests from their repertoire for our family and friends too. All of our guests loved Kickstart, and they ranged in age from 17 to 87, making them a perfect band for such a special occasion. Everyone really enjoyed dancing the night away and wished that the time didn’t fly by so fast! We actually had many comments from our guests saying it was the best wedding they had been too, and I’m sure Kickstart attributed a great deal to that!
We had hired out the entire reception venue on the night, which is in a very busy part of Port Douglas, and it was amazing to see how many people walked past in awe of the great entertainment going in inside They were no doubt wishing they were there to enjoy themselves as much as us!
We can highly recommend Kickstart to anyone who wants a fabulous and amazingly talented covers band to keep their guests dancing the night (or day) away. We can’t wait to attend another one of their gigs in the near future and have the opportunity to use them again for another special occasion.

Just a short note to express our thanks for supporting the Think Pink weekend. We believe that being able to promote having your band performing helped us sell a heap more tickets to the dinner than we would have.
